February Health Initiatives

Health and well-being are an essential part of our mission at the School of Hope. In our community, where access to even basic healthcare services is limited, we prioritise regular health checkups and treatments to ensure our students can learn and thrive without hindrance.

This February, we focused on preventive healthcare measures for our students. Children aged 6 to 14 received deworming treatments, a crucial step in combating parasitic infections that can affect nutritional absorption and lead to impaired cognitive and physical development. For students aged 10 to 17, we provided iron supplements, which are essential in preventing anaemia. Additionally, girls aged 10 and older were given both iron and folic acid supplements. Folic acid is vital for promoting healthy development during these formative years.

These health interventions, carefully administered by our amazing nurse Celena, lay the foundation for healthy growth and development, enabling our students to make the most of their education.

Eye health is another critical aspect of our healthcare initiatives. This February, we welcomed the team from Clinica Visualiza to conduct eyesight tests for our students. Good vision is fundamental to learning, and with the generous donation of 204 pairs of glasses from Dr. Nadeem Ali and his team last year, we've made significant strides in ensuring our students have the visual support they need. Regular eyesight testing is key, especially as we welcome new students, to identify and address any changes in their vision early on.
