Diving into the wonderful world of science with Merck!

Written by: Julia Henning, Communications and Marketing Intern in Guatemala

We had such a fun time with Merck for their Spark Program science day! Merck’s scientists arrived bright and early with supplies and kits to get our vacation school students ready to participate in experiments for the day.

Each student received a lab coat, goggles, and a scientist’s notebook to remember what they learned. Merck scientists led eight different stations of experiments from “elephant toothpaste” to lava lamps and chemical effects on copper coins. EFTC students got to take turns contributing to each experiment and helping their peers with the measurements to accomplish the correct result.

Merck’s Spark Program aims to cultivate scientists of tomorrow, and we can certainly see the impact on our students!

Thank you, Merck, for bringing the fun of science to our school and opening the world of possibilities in science for our students.
