Back to School 2024

The halls of the School of Hope buzzed with anticipation on January 15th, marking the eagerly awaited first day back. An assembly brimming with new faces and familiar spirits marked the start of another year of learning and growth.

This year, we get to welcome both new volunteers and teachers at the school. Among the exciting additions are new music classes, which have already become a favourite among students, providing them with a creative outlet to express themselves and explore new talents.

In our commitment to equip our students with essential skills for their future, we've expanded our English programme to encompass pre-school to third grade, meaning all students at the school will eventually be able to converse with their sponsors in English. Most importantly, this initiative opens doors to broader educational and career prospects.

On the second day of classes, a tremor briefly shook the south of Guatemala. Our students and staff swiftly and calmly enacted our safety protocols, gathering in the courtyard. Fortunately, the tremor was minor, with no damages or injuries reported.

The week also featured an assembly for our scholarship students and their parents, to provide guidance for their journeys through high school and university. We’re always happy to welcome familiar faces back at the School of Hope.

As we step into this new school year, we're filled with excitement for what lies ahead. Check back here regularly for more updates as we navigate another promising year at the School of Hope!
